Proud Granddaughter
This is my artist granddaughter, Maddie, with the painting she did yesterday. Maddie is nine years old and quite accomplished. She has loved to draw since she was very small, I think one of my earliest posts was a portrait of me she did when she was five
How Many Koi
This 22x28 is my largest watercolor batik yet. How many fish do you see? The background in the painting is more purple than I could adjust the photo.

Gamecock Fan
Back to Watercolor Batik. Loved the colors in this regal rooster I photoed at one of the plantation gardens near Charleston last spring. He is mounted on an 18x18 canvas, I am attempting to move this medium into a larger format. Our MNP group is working on Batiks for a show at the Greenville Chamber to be displayed in Nov. & Dec.
Orchids
This is a transparent watercolor approx. 14 x 16 that I started at the Sue Archer workshop I took at Kanuga this year. It is an attempt to paint in Sue's style of layering using strong contrast in lighting. Loved the workshop and learned a lot.SOLD

Baldies
This is a painting a friend wanted me to do. It is from a photo she took of her husband, grandchild and if you look real close you will see the grandchild's baby doll. She has a great sense of humor and liked the different stages of baldness of the threesome. A joy to paint.

Lucky
11x17 Watercolor batik on rice paper
Used a little heavier rice paper on this painting which took a little adjusting, but all in all
a likable finished product.

More Zinnias
Watercolor Batik on Rice Paper
I have to call this painting more of an experiment. May try it again in a larger format
Hard to get the detail with the wax working this small and a little messy looking for my taste.

I'm Thinking Crab Cakes
This is my trade painting for my Monday Night Painting group for 2012 (we're a little late but we will have a fun celebration this Monday night). It is a watercolor batik on rice paper 8x10 from a photo I took when we went on our annual beach trip in October. I think I like it enough to do again, but no two are exactly alike. If anyone has any interest in this painting or any others please feel free to contact me at CarolMann0@gmail.com or Mann9325@bellsouth.net. Thanks for looking! Happy New Year!
